Masterclasses in Municipal International Cooperation

Introduction

Are you working for a European municipality or public service organisation and involved in international cooperation? Then the Masterclasses in Municipal International Cooperation will certainly be of interest to you.

The Masterclasses are designed for municipal officers and elected representatives engaged in international projects as well as staff of public service organisations, such as water and housing corporations. All masterclasses are tailored to the level of foreknowledge and experience of the participants. They offer you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge about local governance in developing countries, develop your skills in advising, proposal writing and monitoring, and exchange experiences with colleagues from other municipalities or public service organisations within Europe.

Masterclass Municipal International Cooperation

This Masterclass provides you with background information - both theory and practice - on the organisation and functioning of local authorities in developing countries. General principles of capacity development will be discussed as well as different approaches to Municipal International Cooperation within Europe. The Masterclass will also focus on the challenges of working together with people from different cultures and different backgrounds.

The Masterclass Municipal International Cooperation consists of the following modules:

  • Local governance in developing countries;
  • Capacity building of local governments;
  • Leadership development;
  • Dealing with integrity and corruption;
  • Different European approaches to Municipal International Cooperation;
  • Communication with project partners: the Partnership Challenge.

The Masterclass Municipal International Cooperation lasts 1.5 days.

Masterclass Effective Proposal Writing

The Masterclass Effective Proposal Writing has been designed for project coordinators responsible for writing project proposals for international cooperation projects. By participating in the Masterclass, participants will be given tools to help them formulate consistent project proposals in an effective and efficient way.

The Masterclass consists of the following modules:

  • What is project cycle management?;
  • How to formulate a coherent logical framework (LOGFRAME);
  • How to include Monitoring and Evaluation questions in a project proposal.

This Masterclass is offered as a tailor-made one-day course.

Masterclass Monitoring and Evaluation

The Masterclass Monitoring and Evaluation has been designed for project coordinators responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of Municipal International Cooperation projects. The aim of the class is to train participants in effective monitoring and evaluation techniques.

The Masterclass consists of the following modules:

  • Main elements in project cycle management;
  • Formulating indicators and working with a monitoring system;
  • Bottlenecks encountered when implementing and monitoring projects in the South;
  • Different ways of measuring and distilling project results.

This Masterclass is offered as a tailor-made one-day course.
